Robert Lafayette Rankins Jr.

Robert Lafayette Rankins Jr., 75, of Poteau, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2002, in Independence, Mo. He was born Feb. 17, 1927.
Mr. Rankins was a 30 year veteran of the U.S. Army and had been awarded two purple hearts. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Poteau. He loved to fish, paint and play golf.
Survivors include his wife Kuni of the home; two daughters, Debra Warren of Independence, Mo. and Robyn Little of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; one son, Michael Rankins of Dallas; three sisters, Louise Cotton of and Doris Roberts, both of Wright City, Yvonne Tidmore of Ada, Kan.; one brother, Raymond Rankins of Broken Bow; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and loved ones; and a host of beloved friends.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 9 at the First Baptist Church in Poteau under the direction of the Rev. Phil McGehee. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau
