Elmer Edward Emmert, 87, of Poteau, passed away Sept. 3, 2009, in Poteau. He was born Dec. 21, 1921, in Fort Smith, Ark. He had been employed with Coca Cola Bottling Company. He was a member of Double Branch Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a his son, Frank Emmert.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Roam Emmert of the home; a brother and sister-in-law, Arthur "Chubby" and Lee Roa Emmert of Rudy, Ark.; a niece, Leotta Ponder; nephews Jeremy Emmert, Charles "Chuck" Emmert and Harry Aldinger; numerous other relatives, friends and loved ones.

Funeral services were held Sept. 8 at 2 p.m. at Oakland Cemetery Pavilion, Poteau, with Rev. Sonny Daniels, Lynn Bullard and Steven Billy officiating. Interment was in Oakland Cemetery.

Pallbearers were members of DAV #63. Evans and Miller Funeral HOme, Poteau, was in charge of arrangements. An on line message may be left at evansandmillerfuneralhomes.com
