Graveside services for Shanell LaDawn Smith Rivera were held at 10 am Wednesday, November 25, 2009 in Nubbin Ridge Cemetery under the direction of Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Spiro.

Shanell LaDawn Smith was born July 3, 1987, in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Bryan D. and Lisa Kay (Franklin) Smith and passed away November 22, 2009, in Fort Smith, Arkansas at the age of 22.

She was a poet.

Survivors include her husband, Frank Daniel Rivera of the home; her parents, Bryan and Lesa Smith of Spiro, OK; maternal grandmother, Nellie Rider and husband, Patrick of Spiro, OK; maternal grandfather, Richard Franklin and wife, Marsha of Verdigris, OK; paternal grandparents, Sharon and Wayne Smith of Spiro, OK; sisters, Taylor D. Henley and husband, Cliff of Richmond, VA and Blake Smith of the home, and aunt, Lisa Kay Charlton of Van Buren, AR.
