J. E. Franklin

J.E. Franklin, 80, of Spiro, was born April 22, 1922, at Cowlington to Johnny and Sula (Freeman) Franklin. He passed away Monday, May 20, 2002, in Spiro.
He was a member of Murry Spur Free Will Baptist Church and retired as a mechanic from Fort Chaffee after 26 years. He was an Army veteran serving in the 96th Division of 921 Field Artillery Ban. Co. C and a lifetime member of DAV and American Legion.
He married the former Edna Ridenour on Feb. 5, 1944.
Survivors include his wife Edna of the home; two sons, Kenneth and Jerry Franklin, both of Spiro; four grandchildren, Jay Jack Franklin of Fort Smith, Jacqui Rigler of Edmond, Ryan Franklin of Shawnee, and Shannon Franklin of Nashville, Tenn.; seven great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 23 at the Murry Spur Free Will Baptist church with the Rev. C.L. Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery under the direction of the Mallory Funeral Home of Spiro.
Pallbearers will be J.E. McKinney, Wayne Davis, Bud Stout, Clayton Ridenour, Gene Partain and Luther Franklin. Honorary pallbearers will be Ernie Wooten, Bob Large, Carl Choate, Aaron Ridenour, William Brown and David Hope.
