Maxine McCoy, 64, of Poteau died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, in Tulsa. Maxine was born Oct. 7, 1948, in Page to Isaac and Cordia (Graham) Jones.
She was head cook at Poteau Upper Elementary for 34 years. Maxine was dearly loved and was a great member of the community. She loved to sit on her porch with her grandchildren.
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin McCoy; her parents; grandson, Jacob “Jake” Freeman; brothers, Leo and Billy Jones; brother-in-law, Hank Holt.
Survivors include her daughters, Tracey Freeman and husband, Ray, Sherry Hilderbrand and husband Jim; son, Joshua McCoy and wife, Michelle; grandchildren, Farron Crouch and husband Casey, Logan Hilderbrand, Cody, Cadie and Carlee McCoy; great-grandchild, Eli Crouch; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Jones Lowe of Heavener, Alma Jones of Mena, Ark.; sisters, Bobbie Holt of Norman, Patsy and Garland “Crook” Watts of Blackfork, Ark., Charlene and Bob Harris, Judy and Jimmy Dunigan, Shirley and Willie Clinton; brothers, Fred and wife Carolyn Jones, Isaac “Pete” Jones, all of Heavener.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at Poteau First Assembly of God with the Rev. Tim Trent officiating.
Burial will be in Mount View Cemetery, Glendale.
Pallbearers will be her nephews, Jack Harris, Bryan Clinton, Wes Jones, Jimmy Dunigan, Danny Harris, Sam, Steve and Alford Watts, Bruce Holt, Jim, Tim and Keith Jones.
The family will visit with relatives and friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Evans and Miller Funeral Home.
