Funeral services for Paul Dale Hicks, 67, of Weatherford will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at the Nazarene Church with Todd Derbyshire officiating. Burial will take place at 4 p.m. at Maxey Cemetery in Wister under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home, Weatherford.
Paul was born on Sept. 24, 1945, to Homer Elton Hicks and Robbie Marie (Bullard) Hicks in Leflore County. Paul went to be with the Lord on Friday Oct. 12 at his home surrounded by his large loving family.
Paul grew up in several communities in Western Oklahoma, moving where his family could find work. At 13 he went on harvest with a local Weatherford farmer and decided that he would continue to work instead of returning to school. He worked in the oilfield until the last year of his life, due to health issues.
Paul loved being around his family and friends. He was devoted to his children and proud of his grandchildren. Paul was a loving husband to his wife, Sue, and adored his great-grandchildren and felt blessed to have them in his life.
Paul enjoyed spending time with his siblings and their families, camping out and fishing with all of them. Hunting with his brothers was a joy that he wished he would have done more. His smile and laugh will be remembered by all that knew him, along with all the teasing he loved to do.
Paul is survived by his wife, Sue Hicks of the home, his daughters, LaDell Marie Wiles of Weatherford and Michelle Renea Gregory and husband, Rick, of Cordell, Sharon Millgate and husband, Ernie, of West Haven, Utah; and son, Chuck Kisinger and Debbie of Weatherford, Mikka Clear, Greg and boys of Texas; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Napoleon Paul Wiles, Chelsea and Lily of Hinton, Natasha Wheeler, Jozie and Ethan of Weatherford, Michael Wheeler, Mistina and Zachery of Lookeba, Lawson Petty of Marlow, Roxanna Coppage and Devin of Hinton, Kalli Buntin and Clint of Blanchard, Jason Gregory and Lisa of Cordell, Krista Rhodes and Rusty and children of Tulia, Texas; great-grandson, Eric Combs of California; brothers and sisters, Elton Hicks, Thomas Hicks, Pete Hicks and Aileen Martin all of Weatherford, Robert Hicks and wife Melvina, Phillip Hicks and wife Glenda all of Moore, Patsy Diskson and husband Melvin of Covington, Melba Adkinson and husband Leroy of Byers, and aunt, Loretta Bullard, many cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends. Paul was preceded in death by his son, Little Paul Hicks; his parents; sister, Vivian LaBlanc; and brother, Butch Hicks.
