Esther Marie Blalack Carter Naylor, born on September 30, 1926 in Hulsey Prairie, Oklahoma passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2011, in Shawnee, Oklahoma at the age of 84.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Judson Andrew Blalack and Artie Beall Hulsey Blalack.

Esther had five children, Patricia Carter Brown and husband Jerry of Huntington, New York, Carol Carter Shi and husband A.H. Shi, M.D. of Seminole, Oklahoma, Laura Naylor Baker and husband Phillip of Dickinson, Texas, a son Charles E. Carter of Maud, Oklahoma and one son precedes her, Clyde E. Carter, Jr. who died in 1968 during the Vietnam Era, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Beatrice Blalack Brown and a brother, Earnest Amel Blalack.

She had eight grandchildren; Chris and Greg Brown, Jack, Ann Marie and Andrew Foster Shi, John Keegan, Madison and McKinley Baker, one great granddaughter, Hayden Brown.
 
Mrs. Naylor was a Baptist, a great crafter, she loved making porcelain dolls, pouring the slip, painting the dolls faces and making doll clothes.  She could knit, making tatting and beautiful lace.  She was also an avid quilter, making all her quilts by hand.  She was known by her family as the best cake maker.  She was always making cake for friends, family and neighbors. 

A graveside memorial service is scheduled for 6:00 P.M., Monday, August 1, 2011, at Wilburton City Cemetery in Wilburton, Oklahoma with Dr. A.H. Shi, son-in-law officiating.
