Passed away on February 24, 2004, at the age of 87. She was a resident of the Episcopal Church Home in Louisville, Kentucky.
Josie was born in Lutie, Oklahoma on November 27, 1916, and spent most of her life residing in the southern California area, having lived in Santa Paula, Long Beach, North Long Beach, Compton, Garden Grove and Mission Viejo. She was a long time employee of the Long Beach Press Telegram.
Survivors include one son, Richard Lee Hacker and his wife, Eileen, of Louisville, KY; grandchildren, Brad Hacker and his wife, Rebecca, of Nashville, TN, Greg Mirkin of Baltimore, MD, and Wendy Nestrud Hacker and her husband, Lon, of London, England; a daughter-in-law, Rowena Hacker; two sisters, Dorothy Moyle of Lomita, CA, and Ruth Bledsoe of Red Oak, OK, and numerous nieces and nephews located around the country. She recently became a great grandmother with the birth of Ryan Richard Hacker.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 13, 2004, at her church, Long Beach Community of Christ, 3525 Elm Avenue, Long Beach, CA 90807.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be given to her church or to Buckhorn Camp, Inc., 24641 Hwy 243, Idyllwild, CA 92549.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Alma Richard Hacker, and a son, Gary Wayne Hacker.
