Donald Thomas Barnes was called home on Saturday, August 26th 2023 at the age of 45 in McAlester, Oklahoma.

Donald was born on March 6th 1978 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Clark and Bobbie Barnes.  Donald married Kristi Carey on March 13, 1999 and to this union was born Daniel Thomas and Katrina Jolee (Katie.)  They were married 24 years and were best friends until his death.  Donald graduated in 1996 from Alex High School in Alex, Oklahoma.  He then attended OSU IT in Okmulgee, Oklahoma and graduated in 1998.  He then started his life long career as an electrician working for Wolverine Tube, Berry Plastics and AEP-PSO.  He excelled at his trade for over 20 years. He knew everything and would never let you forget it.  He was always willing to help anyone anytime, just out of the kindness of his heart.  He was the best father his kids could have ever asked for.  He was also a very faithful son and loved his parents and brother Aaron with all his heart. His favorite hobbies were spending time with his kids outdoors teaching them everything he could.  He loved his shop and lived in it as much as he could.  He loved attending his church at Haywood Baptist and loved his church family.  3rd Sunday was his favorite day.  He loved being involved.  He was ornery to everyone and it didn’t matter if he knew you or not, he would give you a hard time.  He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Kristi Barnes of McAlester, OK; his son, Daniel Barnes of Ponca City, OK; daughter, Katie Barnes of Stillwater, OK; brother, Aaron Barnes and wife, Dana of Haileyville, OK; parents, Clark and Bobbie Barnes of Haileyville, OK; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

Donald is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Robert and Frena Synder; paternal grandfather, Thomas Barnes; and his beloved cousin, Jennifer Watkins.

Active pallbearers will be Kenny O’Daniel, Jim Craig, Sean Fuchs, Dewayne Howell, Alan Carano, Brandon Igou and Aaron Barnes.  Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Carey, Jeff Osborne, John Coffman, Brian Louderback, Jeff Dicks and Wayne Workman.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home in McAlester.

Services will be 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at Haywood Baptist Church with Brother Terry Brinkley officiating.

Burial will follow at Cupco Cemetery in Yanush, Oklahoma.
