A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in St. Marys Catholic Church on Monday, April 11, 2005, at 9:00 a.m., for Taft resident, Robert E. Nicholson, 82.

Mr. Nicholson was born in Hobart, Oklahoma on May 26, 1922 and passed away March 7, 2005 in Bakersfield. Mr. Nicholson came to Taft in 1936 and graduated from Taft Union High School in 1940.

He and his twin brother owned various service stations along the central valley and the coastal area. Mr. Nicholson was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping at Balch Park.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Bessie Nicholson; his twin brother, Donald W. Nicholson in October 2000; and his children, Robert E. Nicholson and Sharon Nicholson. Mr. Nicholson is survived by his son, Donald Nicholson; his sister, Lois Kessler of Taft; his six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

There are no visitation hours scheduled and the arrangements are under the direction of the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home. The family would like to thank Lupe and the entire Romo family for taking such good care of Robert.
