ENID — Velda Ruby McEachern was born Sept. 10, 1922, in Okeene to Loyd and Della Wilson and passed away Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, at the age of 90.  

She attended Pleasant Valley 
School and graduated from Okeene High School in 1941.

Velda worked as Rosie the Riveter during World War II, then attended OU 
School of Nursing, where she met Hoyt R. McEachern. They married June 10, 1945.

They owned and operated Mack’s Oil Co. for 46 years and Velda also worked at Okeene Hospital Annex.

After retiring and moving to Enid she enjoyed volunteering at Integris Bass Hospital.

She is survived by children, Joan Kelley (George) of Enid, Ora McCart (Dean) of Pond Creek, Connie Livingston (Steve) of Okeene, Gloria McEachern of Cleo Springs, Jeanie Pauline of Cleo Springs, Della Snow of Enid, Hoyt Jr. of Southard, Duane of Kilgore, Texas, and Kevan of Ringwood; sisters, Wilma Fielder of Mulberry, Ark., Edith Francis of Moore, Georgia Pavlu (Francis) of Okeene and Rose Kocher (Walt) of Oklahoma City; 23 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Leroy Morris; many nieces, nephews and friends; and special friends, Lillian Leverett of Oklahoma City, and Lucille Garis of Enid.   

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hoyt; son, Gary; sister, Glenda Morris; and brothers, Aryland, Llwellyn and Eldon Wilson.

Funeral service for Velda will be 10 a.m. today, Nov. 17, 2012, at First Baptist Church, Okeene, with Phillip Wilson officiating. Burial in Parvin Cemetery, Okeene, with Wilkinson Mortuary, Okeene, in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Circle of Love or OMRF Diabetes Division.

Pallbearers include: Chad Kelley, Shaun Kelley, Kristin Stoughton, Eric McCart, Chris Nault, Derek Livingston.
