Joseph Racer , a resident of Oklahoma since 1899, and a veteran of the  Civil War, passed away at his home in the Southwest part of town Tuesday  morning at the age of 80 years, 3 months and 10 days.

Death resulted from  dropsy, from which he had suffered for many months. 

Funeral services were held at Union Chapel, northeast of town Tuesday  afternoon, Rev. C. H. Barnes officiating. 

Interment was made in the cemetery  adjoining. 

The deceased is survived by three sons, D. B. and J. E. Racer of Hennessey and  C. A. Racer, of Viola, Kans.  He also leaves two brothers, Dennis of Portland, Ore., and B. F. Racer of Hennessey, and two sisters who reside at the old home in  Oakville, Ia.

The deceased was a member of 19th Iowa Infantry and served his country faithfully.
