John Crosswhite, Pioneer Resident, Died Monday Morning
 
John Crosswhite, aged 75 years, died at his home on W. 5th St. early Monday morning, after an illness of less than a fortnight of flu – pneumonia. His condition had been considered critical for several days before his death. He had resided in this County for more than a quarter of a century.

Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. In compliance with his expressed wish, interment was made beside deceased relatives in the Lyon Valley Cemetery, Northeast of Hennessey.

John Crosswhite was born in Boone County, Missouri, April 2, 1854, and died at his home in Hennessey, on January 6, 1930, at age of 75 years, nine months and four days.

He was married to Jane Barker at Topeka, Kansas, November 19, 1873. 13 children were born to their union, seven sons and six daughters: Taylor, who died in infancy; Charles, of El Reno, Oklahoma; Lue, of Bridgeport, Oklahoma; John, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; McKinley, Roy and Frank, of Hennessey; Mrs. Maggie Jones, of Wichita, Kansas; Mrs. Jennie Kirkpatrick, deceased; Mrs. Lillie Goodnight, of Okeene, Oklahoma; Mrs. Leora Myers, of Hillsdale, Oklahoma, and two daughters, who passed away in childhood.

He came to Oklahoma from Colorado in 1890, locating on a farm near Okarche, where he resided four years. He located 11 miles northeast of Hennessey in 1894. He later moved to a farm he purchased in Union Township, southeast of town, and about three years ago came to Hennessey to reside.

After his conversion in his 40th year he united with the Methodist Church at Okarche, later affiliating with the Church of God. He lived a true consistent Christian life and was always a cheerful, loving companion, devoted father, and kind and helpful neighbor. He will be sadly missed in the home circle and without.

Nine children, 37 grandchildren, six great – grandchildren, three brothers and a host of other relatives and friends will mourn his death.

Mrs. Martha Crosswhite Died Friday Morning
 
Mrs. Martha Jane Crosswhite, 73 years old, a resident of this County for more than a quarter of a century, died Friday morning at her home on W. 5th St. Her health had been failing gradually for several years. The end came after but a few hours illness of heart trouble.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from union Chapel, northeast of Hennessey. The Rev. Paul Lamb officiated at the services. Interment was made in the Lyon Valley Cemetery adjacent to the Chapel, beside her deceased husband, who died about a year ago.

Martha Jane Barker was born in Kingman County, Kansas, July 15, 1857, and died at her home in Hennessey, January 9, 1931, aged 73 years, five months and 24 days.
 
She was married to Mr. John Crosswhite on November 19, 1873, at Topeka, Kansas. With her husband and family she removed to Oklahoma in 1890, locating on a farm near Okarche, Oklahoma. After residing in that section for 14 years they moved to a farm in 11 miles northeast of Hennessey in 1904. Later they located on a farm purchased in Union Township, southeast of Hennessey. Four years later they came to Hennessey.

She was converted at the age of 10, joining the Methodist Church in Kingman, Kansas, later affiliating with the Church of God. She remained a consistent Christian through the years that intervened until her death. She was an indulgent loving mother and helpful neighbor.

Her husband preceded her in death one year and three days. Nine of their children survive: Charles, of El Reno, Oklahoma; Lue, of Bridgeport, Oklahoma; John of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; McKinley and Frank, of Hennessey; Roy, of Pawnee, Oklahoma; Mrs. Maggie Jones, of Wichita, Kansas; Mrs. Lillie Goodnight, of Okeene, Oklahoma; and Mrs. Leora Myers, of Hillsdale, Oklahoma. One son and three daughters preceded their mother in death.
