Kingfisher – Graveside service for Melvin R. Taggart, 76, will be at 10:30 AM Thursday in the Kingfisher Cemetery. The Rev. R. Stewart will officiate. Arrangements are by Sanders Funeral Service.

He was born March 26, 1919, at Kingfisher to Frank and Dessie Conner Taggart and died Monday, January 8, 1996, at Carney.

He married Dora Calif in Kingfisher, and was a Kingfisher County employee for more than 25 years, living in the Kingfisher area most of his life. He was a member of the First Christian Church. He had been in failing health the past two years.

Surviving are his wife, Dora of the home; two daughters, Judy Simes of Charlottesville, North Carolina, and Hazel Miller of Carney; three grandchildren; and two great – grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
