Kathy Ann Swisher, 60, of Kingfisher, died at her home with family by her side on Wed., Aug. 31, 2016, after a courageous seven-year battle with cancer. Services were at 10 a.m. Sat., Sept. 4, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kingfisher. 

Burial followed at Kingfisher Cemetery under the direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home of Hennessey. 

Kathy was born Jan. 25, 1956, in Kingfisher to Kenneth and Bernita Naberhaus Markus. A Kingfisher High School graduate, she earned a degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford. She began teaching at Kingfisher Public Schools in 1979 and retired as a special education teacher in 2008 after 29 years. Kathy married Darrell Swisher on May 26, 1992. She enjoyed gardening, spending time with her family and traveling with her friends. 

Kathy was preceded in death by her father and one brother, Keith Markus. 

She is survived by her husband, of the home; her mother, of Yukon; daughter Candice St. Cyr and husband, Rick, of Kingfisher; granddaughters Kaitlin St. Cyr and Madelyn St. Cyr, of Kingfisher; brother, Dan Markus of Edmond; brother, Steve Markus and wife, Peggy, of Cashion; sister, Karen Kolar and husband, Kirk, of Edmond; sister, Karla Tull and husband, Randy, of Piedmont, and brother, Kevin Markus and wife, Jennifer, of Yukon. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Kingfisher Educational Foundation or Mercy Health Foundation in Oklahoma City.
