Stanley Richard Kuntz passed from this earth on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2023, at the age of 94.

He was a loving, gentle and kind husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Stanley was born Nov. 25, 1928, in Kingfisher to Ewald and Mary Vorderlandwehr Kuntz. He attended Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic School and graduated from Kingfi sher High School in 1947.

He farmed several years with his father before enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1950. He served four years as a radar technician and chaplain’s assistant.

Stanley returned to farming after leaving the service.

On Feb. 9, 1956, Stanley married Arlene Meier in a double ceremony with her twin sister Darlene and Bill Gruntmeir.

He was a charter member of the Kingfisher Council of the Knights of Columbus, served as treasurer and was also a member of the Elks Lodge.

He and Arlene enjoyed traveling (49 states), camping and the occasional casino slot machine.

There was no limit to the amount of news he consumed. He always enjoyed a good nap, sometimes even in the shed.

They retired from farming and moved to Edmond in 2010. In recent years, Stanley made his home at the Touchmark Retirement Center with his cat Baxter, where he made new friends and enjoyed activities such as Bingo and cornhole.

Stanley was preceded in death by his wife Arlene, daughter Mary Elizabeth, and parents Ewald and Mary Kuntz.

He is survived by children Lori (Mark) of Tulsa, Jan and Brad of Edmond, granddaughter Haley (Steven) Townsend of Lawrence, Kan., great-grandsons Jack and Ben Townsend, sisters Bernice Krittenbrink and Mary Penndorf; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 16, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church with burial following at Kingfisher Cemetery under the direction of Sanders Funeral Service.

Memorials may be made to Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Kingfisher or the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.
