Melody Jane (Ross) Coughlan

Melody Jane Coughlan was born May 6, 1960, to Kenneth and Mickey (Burns) Ross in Goldsboro, N.C.

She was received into the arms of her Lord and Savior on April 8, 2023.
 

Melody grew up and graduated high school in Tonkawa.

She married the love of her life, John Benedict Coughlan on June 21, 1979. They were blessed with four children.

Her children were her world. She never missed an opportunity to bring them up in conversation and tell everyone how proud of them she was.

Melody loved all children. She opened a home daycare and cared for countless children in our community for 40 years.

Melody and John also working together at Pony Express Printing for 30 years.

Melody, John and their son Shannon opened Iron Wheel BBQ in 2000 and served the community until May 2022. Melody and John continued working together catering after closing their food trailer.

Melody found joy hosting kiddie tractor pulls, antiquing, spending time with her grandchildren and volunteering her time to help others.

Melody was a servant of others and a servant of God.

She was an active member of the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church.


She is survived by her husband, John and her four children, Edward Shannon of Yukon, Kevin and wife Heather of Purcell, Kyle and wife Cassie of Kingfisher, and Chelsey and wife Amber of Crescent; her four sisters, Princess and husband Mick Fine of Tulsa, Jessica Hightower of Blackwell, Judy Easley of Blackwell, Melenda Grissom of Mc-Minnville, Tenn., and one brother, Richard Ross and wife Crystal of Blackwell.

Melody is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Gage Coughlan and fiancé Josie, Audrey Coughlan and wife Brittney, all of Elk City; Dylan Stewart, Jayden and Bella Stoddard all of Crescent; Avery Jones of Yukon; Kamberlee and Kaideson Coughlan of Purcell; Hayleigh Tuttle, Daniel Coughlan, Cole and Blake Sigl, all of Kingfisher; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.


She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Kenny Ross Schultz, grandson Brock Coughlan and daughter-in-law Jani Coughlan.
 

Wake services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 13, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church.

Mass of Christian

Burial will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, April 14, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church with burial following at Kingfisher Cemetery under the direction of Sanders Funeral Service.
