Melvina Faye Christy, a lifelong resident of Kingfisher, passed away at her home on Sept. 12, 2023 at the age of 84.

She was born Feb. 27, 1939, to Theodore “Ted” Christy and Eleanor (Forbes) Christy in Kingfisher.

Melvina graduated from Kingfisher High School in 1959.

She worked as a clerk at the Kingfisher County Courthouse then later at the Department of Human Services from which she retired.

She enjoyed needle pointing and crocheting pot holders.

Melvina was definitely one of a kind with a unique personality. She had a quick-witted sense of humor and loved telling her inappropriate jokes from memory.

She loved watching football and basketball games, especially OU and OKC Thunder.

Melvina loved her nieces and nephews like they were her own children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Terry F. Christy, nephew Darrell Begg and brother-in-law Dale Begg.

She is survived by her sister Madeline Begg of Great Bend, Kan.; brother Teddy Don “Topper” Christy and wife Kaye of Bethany; sister-in-law Margie Christy of Cashion; niece Theresa Homier of Kingfisher; nephew Wayde Klingsick of Tulsa; nephew Craig Christy of Calera; niece Diana Dawson of Great Bend, Kan.; nephew Daniel Fantinel of Hobart; niece Jennifer Hammond of Clinton; niece Julie Goucher of Clinton, along with many great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church under the direction of Sanders Funeral Service.

Added:  Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 19th, 2023 at 10am at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with interment following at Kingfisher Cemetery
