Troy Evan Carman of Kingfisher passed away on Feb. 1, 2023, at the age
of 57 after a long battle with liver cancer.
Troy was born on March 16, 1965, to Carroll “Speedy” Carman and Sharan
(Pappe) Carman in Westminster, Calif.
He had two older sisters, Pam and Tracy, and an older brother Richard.
The family packed up in the summer of ’69 and moved back to Dover.
He graduated from Dover High School in 1983 where he participated in
basketball and FFA.
After high school, Troy attended college at Northwestern Oklahoma State
University. He then moved back to Dover where he worked various jobs.
In 2003 he began a long and prosperous career, primarily as a bobtail
operator, at LuGreg Trucking which spanned for over 19 years.
Troy was known by all in the industry as a rock-solid reliable master of
his craft.
It was always known that if Troy rolled up on the job customers’ minds
were immediately put at ease as he did his job impeccably day in and day
out in a true workmanlike manner.
In 2008, on a first date with Lisa (Snow) Carman at a Sheryl Crow
concert, Troy knew he had met the love of his life.
Lisa and Troy were inseparable from that day forward, both knowing they
had found “The One.”
The two married on June 30, 2012, on a perfect summer evening surrounded
by their best friends and, most importantly to Lisa and Troy, their
beloved family.
Troy had a zest for life as evident by his numerous interests.
He could always be found at Ryan’s Lake in the summer months. Here, he
and Lisa would hang out with family and friends listening to music over
the occasional bonfire.
Troy also enjoyed his home where he would snuggle up in his chair
engulfed in a book, work in the garden, chill in the pool, grill or
bake, or watch OU sports on television in his shop with family and
friends.
Troy and Lisa loved buggy rides, tunes blaring, enjoying the outdoors as
they hunted for sand plums while simply enjoying one another’s company.
Troy had a huge affinity for music, his motto being the louder the
better.
His iPod always loaded with a range of music from classic rock and rap
to opera and jazz.
Troy was often known as reserved, however, family and close friends
will tell you he was the life of the party with his quick wit and a propensity
to be ornery at all of the right times.
Troy, being his ornery self, was also often guilty of being goofy around
his daughters, whether in the photos they were attempting to take of
him, or just in general, no doubt his way of saying I love you and just
one of the many reasons his daughters were so fond of him and loved him
dearly.
Troy is survived and missed by his loving wife Lisa and three
stepchildren, Rachael Hill, Kacee Seiger (Tanner), and Chris Ludwig, all
of Kingfisher.
He will also be missed and remembered by his mother Sharan Carman of
Kingfisher; siblings Pam Wiewel (Jim), Richard Carman and Tracy Snow
(Steve) all of Kingfisher; aunt Juanita and uncle Lee Sutterfield of
Prue; nieces Blair Endres (Chris) of Edmond, Casey Ritz of Kingfisher;
cousins Penny Buckley of Park Hill, Richard Sedwick of Park Hill, Allen
Sedwick (Marcie) of Basehor, Kan., Trevor Pappe of Oolagah; grandnephew
Joseph Carman “JC” Endres of Edmond.
Troy was preceded in death by his father Carroll “Speedy” Carman;
grandparents Richard and Florence Pappe; aunt Sandra Terrell; cousin
Terry Sedwick.
Services were held at the Church of the Nazarene in Kingfisher at 2 p.m.
Wednesday, Feb. 8, with interment following at Kingfisher Cemetery,
under the direction of Sanders Funeral Service.
The family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
