MRS. KATE BLACKMAN DIES AT GUTHRIE
Word was received this morning of the death of Mrs. Kate Blackman, aged 70 years, who died this morning from hemorage at the home of her daughter Mrs. Leitner in Guthrie. Mrs. Blackman resided in Kingfisher for many years until about three years ago when she moved to Guthrie with her daughter. She has many friends here who will regret to learn of her death. No funeral arrangements have been made but it is thought that the body will be brought here for interment.

Catherine L. Calvon (sic) was born in London, England Feb. 17, 1849. She came to America in 1873 settling in Binghampton, New York. She was married to Geo. L. Blackman in 1880 and passed on April 8th, 1920 in Guthrie, Oklahoma, leaving two children, Mrs. Louise Leitner, of Guthrie, and Edgar Blackman of Claremore, Oklahoma, also five grandchildren: Glen, Frances and Herschel Leitner; Sheldon and Lennon Blackman.
Mrs. Blackman is the last of her family, a sister having passed away in infancy, and a brother John Calnon, a Presbyterian minister, who passed on some years ago in New York. Her mother left her earthly home in 1905, while her husband Mr. Blackman passed over 22 years ago.
For twenty years she has been studying Christian Science, attending the services whenever possible and joining the First Church of Christ Scientist of Guthrie in June 1919. She attended to the various duties apportioned to her as a member of that church, most faithfully. That she was a staunch believer of the doctrines of her chosen church is shown beautifully, when during the last few days of her stay here she declared most earnestly "God is taking care of me--what other help do I need?"and that this beautiful trust in her heavenly Father was with her even when to human sense she was passing thru the portals is shown clearly in the look of peace on her countenance.
