Jimmie Ray “Jerry” Barton, 81, of Kingfisher, passed away peacefully Sept. 15, 2023, at his home and surrounded by his family.

He was born July 12, 1942, in Marlow and was the son of the late Nathan Monroe and Lillian Daisy Barton.

Jerry was the founder and owner of Kingfisher Construction Services.

Jerry began the construction company in Deer Creek on May 7, 1977, and a few short years later he relocated the company and his family to Kingfisher, where he also began Barton Cattle.

It is often said that Jerry had done a lot of things for a lot of people and that he had a giving heart.

Jerry enjoyed early mornings breakfast at Sunrise Cafe with his friends.

In recent years, you could often find him driving around checking on the farms, the shop or taking a nap in his pickup under a tree at the pond.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and his home was always the place for the children and grandchildren to gather for events and holidays.

He enjoyed watching his westerns and telling a joke or two.

Jerry was a member of the Kingfisher Elks Lodge, Kingfisher Round-Up Club and AQHA.

Jerry’s lasting legacy will be that of a devoted and generous husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be deeply missed.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, son Jerry Wayne Barton and grandson Kash Barton; his siblings Bill Barton, Nathan Barton, John Barton, MaryLou Davis, Juanita Fleetwood, Wanda Chance and Martha Sue Barton.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Lula Barton; his sons Marty Barton and Jason Barton and daughter Linda Barton and Lee Weber all of Kingfisher; grandchildren Montie Barton and wife Tiffany of Fairview, Jarrod Barton and husband Eric of Yukon, Macey Barton and wife Kasady of Yukon, Shelbi Rasor of Kingfisher, Hunter Barton and wife Maesyn of Kingfisher, and Rilee, Tate and Dallen Barton of Kingfisher; great-grandchildren Nathan and Payton Barton of Fairview and Skylar and Gemma Lee of Kingfisher; sisters, Sharon Kay Williams and Norma Jean Cowley of Carlton, Ga.

Jerry also had an abundance of nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at Kingfisher Cemetery at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, under the direction of Sanders Funeral Service.

Jerry was always a very giving person, often donating to various charities.

In his honor, memorials can be made to your favorite charity.
