Carmen (Buswell) Barrios

Carmen Buswell Barrios went home to be with the Lord and loved ones Wednesday, March 8, 2023.

She was at home surrounded by family and close friends.
 

Carmen was born Aug. 29, 1954, in Okarche, to Richard “Ted” Buswell and Wynona Walter Buswell. Grandparents were Albert Buswell and Enid May Scott Buswell of Kingfisher and Julius Walter and Marie Wensler Walter of Loyal.

Carmen was a 1972 Kingfisher High School graduate. She attended Oklahoma State University and Central State University in Edmond.

Carmen was a special education teacher for Oklahoma City Public Schools for 30 years.

Carmen married Roger Barrios and they lived in Oklahoma City.


She has one sister Julie Buswell Coughlan, married to Leo Coughlan.

Carmen has two daughters, Ginger Hogue and Monica Loper, married to Jeremiah Loper, all of Kingfi sher.

Carmen has four grandchildren, Kaitlyn Lloyd, Kori Lloyd, Waylon Loper and Jessie May Loper; two great-grandchildren, Huxen Mink and Maxton Lloyd, all of Kingfisher.

She has two nephews, Richard Coughlan, married to Sarah Jean Coughlan, of Kansas and Devin Haury of Oklahoma City. She has two nieces, Lily Kleinschmidt, married to Marc Kleinschmidt, and their children Mackenzie and Daphne of Kansas and Christine Coughlan, married to Ryan Hoskins, of Colorado.

Carmen’s extended family includes James Loper, Brenda Loper, Jarrett Loper, Cody Benge and Kelby Mink, close friends and caregivers Megan Butler and Billy Crum and their four children.

Carmen had many cousins that she loved very much.


She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and grandparents.
 

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 8, at First United Methodist Church in Kingfisher, with burial to follow at Kingfisher Cemetery under the direction of Sanders Funeral Service.
