Kingfisher – Charles Delbert Baker, 69, died of cancer Wednesday at his home, 8 miles southwest of Kingfisher. Services will be at 10 AM Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Kingfisher with the Rev. Jack Winkler officiating.
Burial will be in the Kingfisher Cemetery directed by Sanders Funeral Service.
He was born April 8, 1918, on the family Homestead 8 miles southwest of
Kingfisher to Herman Jackson and Joy Ruth Leonhardt Baker and attended Park
School. On August 26, 1945, he married Alice Christine Goodwin. They made their
home on the family homestead where he farmed and raised cattle until retiring
two years ago. He had served with the U. S. Army Medical Corps from 1941 to
1943, during World War II, and was a member of Park Congregational Church until
its disbandment. He then became a member of the First United Methodist Church.
He also was a member of the Kingfisher Co-Op, the Kingfisher County Farm Bureau,
the American Legion and served on the election board of Park Township.
Survivors include his wife, Alice; two sons, C. Mark Baker, Sunnyvale,
California, and Stephen P. Baker, Odessa, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. D. R.
(Anita) Shipley, Stillwater, and Mrs. Pat (Denise) Teague, Yukon; eight
grandchildren; a brother, Marvin, Fort Worth, Texas; and two sisters, Mrs. Mike
(Helen) Barrackman, Kingfisher, and Mrs. Arthur (Olive) Hart, Fort Worth, Texas.
