Donald Everett "Don" Altizer

Donald “Don” Everett Altizer, longtime Ponca City resident, died Thursday, August 31, 2006 at the Altera Sterling House. He was 94 years of age.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday September 5, 2006 at the Kingfisher Cemetery in Kingfisher, Oklahoma with the Rev. Mark Lyon, Pastor, Community Christian Church Disciples Of Christ, officiating. Arrangements are made under the direction of Trout Funeral Home.

Don was born on May 17, 1912 in Tulsa to Roy and Ida (Matthews) Altizer. He married Lucy Wanzer on August 8, 1936 in Watonga. They had just celebrated their seventieth wedding anniversary. Don served in the Army Corps of Engineers and also worked for Conoco, retiring as a computer analyst after 32 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, playing bridge, and the internet. He was a member of Community Christian Church.

He is survived by: his wife Lucy of Ponca City; and one niece, Betty Rago and her husband Dennis of Denver and one cousin Naomi Matthews of Kingfisher.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers.
