Betty Grace (Shaffer) Norris

Enid News and Eagle July 27, 2006 

A graveside service for Betty Grace Norris, 79, of Enid, will be 10 a.m. Friday in Hennessey Cemetery. The Rev. Paul Buckner will officiate. Arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory.

She was born July 16, 1927, in Blackwell to Earl and Opal Mae Gordon Shaffer and died Tuesday, July 25, 2006, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

She grew up and attended school in Enid. She later moved to California. She returned to Oklahoma and married Ray Dean “Bud” Norris March 4, 1949, in Enid. He died Dec. 4, 1997.

She worked at Longbell Lumber, Herzbergs and Marquis Studio and retired in 1983. She was a member of Freewill Bap-tist Church and played the organ.

Surviving are one daughter, Carla Walker of Waukomis; two sons, Mike Norris of Guthrie and Lance Norris of Enid; one brother, David Shaffer of Oklahoma City; four sisters, Maxine Sprowls, Earline Browne, Naomi Barnett and Sharon Davila, all of Oklahoma City; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Bud, she was preceded in death by one daughter and three brothers.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, arthritis division.
