Richard Moulson, Sr.

Richard Moulson Sr., 83, Hennessey passed away peacefully at his home Fri., July 1, 2016.

He was born in Merriam, Kan. on September 7, 1932 to Lawrence and Nellie Moulson. He graduated from Shawnee Mission High School in Shawnee, Kan. in 1950. Following his graduation he joined the U. S. Air Force where he served two years of active duty in Japan during the Korean War. Upon his return to the states he was stationed at Vance Air Force Base in Enid. After his discharge he enlisted in the Air Force Reserves and retired after 20 years at the rank of Master Sergeant. Richard married Della Mesis on July 23, 1955. They had two children together Richard Jr. and Robin. He worked for civilian contractors Serve- Air and Northrop at Vance Air Force Base where he served as Director of Accounting. During this time he received his Bachelor’s Degree from Phillips University in 1970. In 1980 Richard established R&D Maintenance Service, Inc., a government contractor with the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, where he served as President and CEO. He was a devoted businessman and spent 25 years traveling the eastern United States attending to the contracts his company was awarded until his retirement in 2005. Richard grew up loving to play sports. He was selected to be a member of the U.S. Air Force baseball and basketball teams while serving his active duty in Japan. Above all he was a loving and devoted family man. He enjoyed spending time with his family more than anything. He loved taking his family fishing on the family farms, playing sports, and late night family card games. 

Richard is survived by his wife Della,one son Richard Moulson Jr. and wife  Jan; son-in-law Mark Croka; two grandchildren, Kaci Croka, Lindsay Brown and husband Justin; two great-grandchildren Lane and Lily Brown; brotherin- law Vincent Mesis Jr. and wife Janet; sister-in-law Jesse Kersey; several nieces and nephews; long time family friend Margaret Skoda, and his two cats Beavis and Oz. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Robert Moulson Sr. and daughter Robin Croka. 

Graveside service was at 10 a.m. Wed., July 6, 2016 at Hennessey Cemetery officiated by Jimmy Berkenbile.

Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Tues., July 5, 2016 at Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home. 

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation Cancer Division with Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home, PO Box 125, Hennessey, OK 73742 serving as custodian.
