Elizabeth "Lizzie" Ann Hamilton 78, wife of Leonard B. Hamilton and pioneer resident of the Hennessey community , died at her home in Hennessey, Wed. July 24, 1940 She had been ill for three years and confined to her bed for fifteen months preceding her death.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p. m. at the Methodist Church , Internment was in the Hennessey Cemetery.
Lizzie Ann Hamilton, the daughter of Robert Harvey and Rosa Belle Gilmore Townsend, was born near Tabor, Iowa on Aug. 16, 1861. She was married to Leonard B. Hamilton on Feb. 15, 1883 in Rockport, MO.
Four children were born to them , Walter B.; Roy Alva ; Nora and Lester. Roy and Lester preceded their mother in death.
She was converted and united with the Methodist faith at an early age, and remained a faithful worker until illness and death first limited and then ended her earthly activities.
Sister Hamilton is survived by her husband Leonard of the home, one son, Walter B. Hamilton of Enid; one daughter Nora M. Lindley Maddux of Hennessey. Grand Children and Great Grandchildren.
The church and pastor will greatly bless this faithful servant of God but our loss, only for a brief time, will be her eternal gain.
