The funeral for Lewis E. Bregenzer, 94, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, at Hennessey First Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Shane Bennett.
 

Burial will follow at Hennessey Cemetery under the direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home.

Lewis was born in Hennessey on Oct. 31, 1928, to Lewis O. and Fannie Crosson Bregenzer and died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2022, at his home in Hennessey.

He graduated from Hennessey High School in 1946 and worked as parts manager at Willard Watson Chevrolet in Hennessey prior to serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict from 1951-1953.

Lewis married Alyce Ritz in Enid on Feb. 27, 1955.

In 1965, Lewis opened Hennessey Auto Supply, which is still in operation today.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, the Gideons, Hennessey Powder and String Club and the American Legion.


Lewis is survived by his wife Alyce of the home; three daughters, Patti Jones and husband David, Janelle Riddle and husband Tim, all of Hennessey, and Joyce Griffith and husband Scott of Glenpool; one son, Mark Bregenzer and wife Valerie of Hennessey; 10 grandchildren, Trisha Jackson, Philip Jones, Kendal Choate, Whitney Hauser, Callan Meek, Erin Thrash, Austin Edsel, Mallory Harms, Jacob Griffi th, Haley Griffith; and nine great-grandchildren.


Lewis was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter.
 

Memorial donations may be made in his name to First Baptist Church with the funeral home serving as custodian of the funds.
