Billy Gene "Bill" Norton
Enid, OK — The funeral for Billy “Bill” Gene Norton, 79, will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 27, 2009, at First Christian Church, Kingfisher. The Rev. Marilyn Merle will officiate. Burial will be in Bird Creek Cemetery, Big Four. Arrangements are by Sanders Funeral Service Inc., Kingfisher.
He was born July 19, 1929, in Kingfisher to Arthur Ira and Marie Norton and died Monday, March 23, 2009, at Kingfisher Regional Hospital.
He was raised and educated in Big Four, east of Kingfisher. He worked on the family farm raising wheat, cattle, chickens and hogs.
He served in the Army during the Korean War. He was discharged in February 1952, returning to the family farm to work.
He married Audrey Ilene Smith. They settled on the Norton farm. He often did his own carpentry, electrical work and machinery repair.
He was a 68-year member of First Christian Church and a member of Elks Lodge.
He had lived at First Shamrock Care Center for the last 14 years.
Surviving are one son, Art Norton; two daughters, Linda Redelfs and Sheryl Mercer; five granddaughters; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey, and three sisters.
Memorials may be made in his name to Kingfisher Regional Hospital, 500 S. 9th, Kingfisher, OK 73750.
