Barbara Ann Allen Delano, 79, passed away on July 2, 2012 in Ponca City, OK.

Barbara was born August 31, 1932 in Kaw City, OK to Samuel and Cora Allen and her older brother Junior. She received her education at the Kaw City Public Schools.

Barbara married Thearn H. Delano on March 11, 1950 in Newkirk, OK. They made their first home in Des Moines, IA. After several years, they returned to the Kaw City Washunga area, where they raised their six children. After the children were grown, Barbara and Thearn moved to Ponca City, where they both lived out the rest of their years.

Barbara was a homemaker for most of her life. In her spare time, she cared for the elderly and babysat her grand and greatgrand children. She loved cooking big meals for her family, especially her famous, from scratch, and much loved chicken and noodles. Barbara enjoyed family cookouts and gettogethers, spending time with her grand and greatgrand children as well as filling the little ones up on their favorite snacks, listening to music, and sitting outside on the porch swing drinking coffee or iced tea, watching the happenings in her neighborhood, and looking at her flowers.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, mother and father, two infant sons and one infant daughter, one soninlaw, and four greatgrandchildren.

She is survived by her six children and their spouses, Yvonne and Larry Estes, Lloyd and Cinda Delano, Vicki Williams, Annette Delano, all of Ponca City, OK. Also, Mary Delano of Newkirk, OK and Richard and Melinda Delano of Marland, OK. Additionally, Barbara is survived by her granddaughter Susan TaylorJohnson and her husband Garnette of Fort Collins, CO, who Barbara raised from infancy, and her favorite niece and best friend, Roberta Phillips of Newkirk, OK.

The family would also like to thank her granddaughter, Rachelle Williams, wife of Charles, for all the love and care she gave to Barbara during her time of need.

Graveside services, under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel, will be held at 10am Friday, July 6, 2012 at the Washunga Cemetery in Newkirk, OK. Family and friends may call at Grace Memorial Chapel for visitation until services.
