Sheri Ann O’Leary, longtime resident of Ponca City, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2009 in Newkirk. She was 57.

Sheri was born January 9, 1952 at Tinker Air Force Base, Midwest City, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Robert Dallas Walters and Dixie Lou (Reynolds) Walters. She was a 1970 graduate of Ponca City High School and a 1974 graduate of the University of Central Oklahoma having majored in accounting. She later graduated from the School of Nursing at Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa in 1994.

Sheri had been employed with Conoco both in Ponca City and Houston, the State of Oklahoma while living in Edmond, Oklahoma, the Department of Human Services in Ponca City and most recently was a Registered Nurse at the Ponca City Medical Center. She was a member of the American Nurses Association. She was of the Christian faith and her enjoyments included her nieces and nephews, traveling and shopping.

She is survived by her four sisters, Karen Patten, Lubbock, Texas, Debbie Freese and husband, Marion, of Ponca City, Janice Steates and husband, Charles, of Ponca City, and Ruth Lampe and husband, Cliff, also of Ponca City; nine nieces and nephews, and several other great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one infant son, Riley Edward O’Leary; one niece and one nephew; a brother-in-law, Dr. Thomas Patten.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, February 2, 2009 at the Hope Chapel on the grounds of the I.O.O.F. Cemetery with her nephew, Todd Patten presiding. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Meagan Lampe Scholarship Fund, in care of RCB Bank-Pioneer, 14th & Highland, Ponca City, Oklahoma 74601. The family will be at 2321 Drake Lane.
