Edna Myra Tracy, longtime resident of Ponca City, passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at the United Methodist Health Care Center in Clinton, Oklahoma. She was 93 years of age.

Edna was born the youngest of nine children on July 5, 1916 at Stroud, Oklahoma, the daughter of Frank and Katie Gaskins Butcher. She received her early schooling in the Happy Valley School near Cushing, Oklahoma.

Edna was married to Lawrence Leo Tracy on July 10, 1937 at Cushing. The couple made their first home near Stillwater, moving to Ponca City in 1941. To this union was born two sons, Larry Charles and Loren Dale. The couple proudly celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1987. She was employed some twenty years as a cook in the Ponca City Junior High cafeteria. She was an active member of Sunset Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing with the Sunset Saints Choir, helping with vacation bible school, cooking for Camp Kay, and going on trips with the Sunset Saints. The Esther Sunday School Class members were some of her special friends.

Edna moved to Clinton, Oklahoma in 2005 to be near her son Larry and family. She had been a resident of the United Methodist Health Care Center for the past four years. She has been a member of the Clinton First Baptist Church during this time.

In her spare time Edna enjoyed cooking, gardening, canning, quilting and going on fishing and camping trips with her husband and brothers families. She and Lawrence enjoyed traveling in their RV in their retirement years. Edna loved giving her quilts to her sons and grandchildren.

She is survived by her two sons, Larry and wife, Mildred, of Clinton, and son, Loren, of Venus, Texas three grandchildren, Larissa Pavlik and husband, George, of Oklahoma City, Lance Tracy and wife, Libby, of San Antonio, Texas, and Loren Dale Tracy Jr. of Venus, Texas one great grandchild, Bailey Pavlik and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents her husband Lawrence four sisters, Gertie Gooch, Gladius Dotson, Myrtle Dethloff and Mary Ellen Waye four brothers, Theodore Butcher, Clarence Butcher, Sam Butcher and Ernest Butcher one grandson, Lane Tracy and her daughterinlaw, Lorna Tracy.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 19, 2010 at the Sunset Baptist Church with Rev. Cliff Fite presiding. A committal service will follow in the Round Grove Cemetery with Rev. Darrel Mote presiding. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
