Marion Kennedy, Ponca City resident, passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at his home. He was 80 years old.

Marion was born on November 24, 1929 in Ponca City, Oklahoma the son of Charles Henry Kennedy and Julia Alice Parker Kennedy. Marion grew up in Ponca City and was a graduate of Ponca City High School. During his teenage years, Marion was salesclerk at Quality Food Market in Ponca City. He enlisted in the United States Army on August 2, 1949 and proudly served in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on July 19, 1956.

Marion met Barbara Lou Raper in Ponca City and they were united in marriage on June 11, 1955 at the Albright United Methodist Church. The couple lived in numerous cities which included Kansas City, Kansas Minneapolis, Minnesota Davenport, Iowa Omaha, Nebraska and Eldorado, Kansas. Marion was employed with Great Lakes Pipeline and retired in 1997 from Williams Pipeline.

Marion enjoyed watching television, listening to country music and going to concerts in younger years. Marion especially enjoyed being with family.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara of the home daughters, Pauline Kennedy of Ponca City, Oklahoma and Paula Peterson and husband, Carl of Ponca City, Oklahoma grandsons, David Harris and Noah Harris and granddaughter, Kenda Harris.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

The graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 30, 2010 at Riverview Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel. Rev. Jack Shamburger, Hospice of North Central Oklahoma will officiate.
