Gale Ray Pemberton

Gale Ray Pemberton, resident of Blackwell, died Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at Integris Blackwell Regional Hospital. He was 61.

Gale was born the son of Coy Ray Pemberton and Dorothy Mae (Bradford) Pemberton on April 27, 1947 in Blackwell, Oklahoma. He grew up in both Blackwell and Ponca City and graduated from Ponca City High School. He was a deputy police officer for Grant County as well as the Newkirk Police Department for 14 years. Gale was both owner and operator of Blackwell Wrecker and Towing Service. He married Charlotte Hurley on March 24, 2008 in Newkirk, Oklahoma. Gale was passionate about hot rod cars and old classic cars and trucks. He was a former member of Classic Cars of Ponca City. He enjoyed boating, camping and watching television, but Gale especially loved spending time with his wife, kids and grandkids.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte of Blackwell, Oklahoma; sons, Scott Pemberton and wife, Toni, David Pemberton and wife, Sheila both of Ponca City, Oklahoma; daughter, Robyn Noverise and husband, Jimmy of Blackwell, Oklahoma; step-son, Derek Hurley of Blackwell, Oklahoma; sister, Linda Knight of Jenks, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Coy and Dorothy; one granddaughter and one niece.

Casket bearers for the service will be Scott Pemberton, David Pemberton, Frank Skaggs, Dennis Johns, DJ Johns and Derry Johns.

Honorary bearers will be David Allen and Jerry Gilner.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 13, 2008 at Grace Memorial Chapel. Interment will be at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
