Johny David Knight, longtime Ponca City resident, passed Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at his home. He was 85 years of age.

Johny was born July 5, 1924 in Waurika, Oklahoma, the son of David C. Knight and Ivah Palomino Knight. He was a 1942 graduate of Ponca City High School. He was married to Loucill Auterson on May 23, 1953 in Ponca City. Johny served in the United States Army from March 15, 1945 until December 11, 1946. He was decorated for serving in the Asiatic and Pacific Campaigns. Johny was employed in earlier years with City Service, Singer and Sequoia Oil Companies prior to his retirement in 1963. He was a 50 year member of the Ponca City Moose Lodge 1031 having served in all offices and had reached the degree of Pilgram in 1981. His enjoyments included his lodge work, his vegetable and fruit gardening and his boxer dog, Rebel.

He is survived by his wife, Loucill, of the home; numerous great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Raymond Knight, Harry Knight and Lee Knight; one sister, Loreta Frances Shuckman.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 13, 2009 at the Ponca City Moose Lodge, 500 West Prospect. A graveside committal will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, September 14, 2009 at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.

Casket bearers will be Jim Wilson, Larry Harrison, Jim Brown, LeRoy Albers, Richard Fesler and Jerry Brown. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ponca City Moose Lodge 1031, 500 West Prospect, Ponca City, Oklahoma 74601.
