A memorial service for Theron E. Kingsolver will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the First Presbyterian Church with the minister, Dr. Arthur Young, officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under direction of E.M. Trout & Sons Funeral Home.
Kingsolver, 204 North Fourteenth, died unexpectedly at his home Wednesday morning. Born Feb. 4, 1906 in Hydro, Okla., he was a retired school teacher.
He taught in Osage High School where he was also principal, and was junior high school principal at Guthrie, high school principal at Weatherford and taught at the Southwest Technological School of Aeronautics.
Kingsolver came to Ponca City in 1943 as a mathematics teacher and assistant football coach. He worked in that capacity for a year, then worked for Glenn Paris & Sons for 14 years, returning to teaching until his retirement May 31, 1971.
He married Mary Jean McIva on May 28, 1932 in Perry. She survives; also a son and three grandchildren. Two brothers and a daughter, Mary Agnes Backs, preceded him in death.
A memorial has been established with the First Presbyterian Church and contributions may be made through the church office. A second memorial has been established for the Heart Fund and contributions may be made in Kingsolver's name through Wilford Johnson at First National Bank.
