Doris Fisher, longtime resident of Ponca City, passed away on Friday, April 09, 2010 in Ponca City after a long and courageous battle with a brain tumor.

She was born August 2, 1941 in Bell, California to Otto E. and May E Gillette James. Doris grew up and received her education in Ponca City, graduating in 1959. While in school she was active in Rainbow Girls achieving the office of Worthy Advisor.

In October of 1966 she began working for Conoco as an Accounting Clerk, she retired in February of 1992 after 26 years as a Senior Assistant.

On April 27, 1967 she married the love of her life Dan Fisher. They enjoyed many years of camping, water skiing, traveling to the mountains of Colorado and their winters in Apache Junction, Arizona. But her greatest passion was playing golf.

Doris was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ponca City where she was secretary of the Disciples Sunday School Class. She also belonged to the Noon Lions where she cochaired the Million Dollar Holeinone, the Mothers Club and was actively involved in both the Lew Wentz Ladies Golf Association and the KO Golf Association. She was a regular contributor to the Red Cross where she had donated several gallons of blood thru the years. She was also an avid card and pool player.

Doris is survived by her husband Dan, her children Kelly and husband Jim Dandridge of Ponca City, Karen and her husband Kip Miles of Enid, and Dana Fisher of Gonzales, Louisiana. Her brother Robert Pete James and wife Sandy, grandchildren Taylor Young, Jason, Jeremy and Allison Miles, Dana II, Corey and Jenna Fisher. Also three great-grandchildren and one due in June. Her stepmother Dorothy James of South Carolina, a nephew Brian and his wife Mary James and their children Kendal, Kelsey and Karly. Along with an Aunt and numerous cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather Tom, and numerous Aunts, Uncles and cousins.

Services will be held Monday, April 12 at 10:30 a.m. in the Worship Center of the First Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Seabaugh officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
