December 24, 1941 - June 26, 2018

Tomasine Charlene "Tommie" Dummer, age 76, longtime resident of Ponca City, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at her home east of Ponca City.

A graveside memorial ceremony to celebrate her life will be held 11:00 am on the 3rd day of July, 2018 at Resthaven Memorial Park. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.

Tommie was born on December 24, 1941 to Stanley Simanek and Ruth Downing Simanek at home in Uncas , OK. She was raised in Uncas, while attending Ponca City High School and graduated with the class of 1960. During high school, she met Howard Thomas Dummer through a friend at the A&W drive-in. Their friendship blossomed quickly and led to a marriage on November 19, 1961 in Ponca City. Their marriage was blessed with one son. After graduating high school, Tommie began working in the mail room at Conoco. Over time, she excelled in her work and after being promoted several times, finishing her career as a Payroll Tax Manager before she retired with over 40 years of service. Throughout her life, Tommie adored her time with her family. Especially enjoying the trips in their RV down to the Gulf of Mexico, fishing and seeking adventure. As well, Tommie was pleased to ride alongside Howard in their classic cars to various events with their club friends. Tommie was known for her big heart and cared deeply for others which was demonstrated by her years of donating several gallons of blood while over her lifetime.

Survivors include her husband Howard Dummer of Ponca City, Son, Mark Dummer of Jenks, OK, sister Rosa Ann "Rosie" Coffee and husband Robert of Newkirk, brother in law Vernon Gardner of Ponca City and granddaughter Hannah Dummer of Jenks, OK.

Tommie was preceded in death by her parents, sister Elva Lee Gardner and daughter in law Shelle Dummer.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Red Cross.

October 24, 1937 - September 23, 2018

Howard Thomas Dummer, age 80, longtime resident of Ponca City, passed away peacefully Sunday, September 23, 2018 at the Ponca City Nursing Home. A graveside memorial ceremony to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, the 28th day of September, 2018 at Resthaven Memorial Park with Tim Russell officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.

Howard was born on October 24, 1937 to Nora Catherine Rowe Dummer in Claremore ,OK. Later he was adopted by Lester Raymond Dummer. He attended a boarding school in Pawnee, OK and after moving in with his Uncle Watt Rowe, he attended Ponca City High School where he graduated with the class of 1956. Before the start of high school, he began helping his Uncle Watt at Glenn Paris and Sons Furniture and because of his success in high school football, he received a scholarship to play at Iowa State University after graduating, until sustaining a knee injury. He was then drafted into the fourth army quartermaster for over three years. After high school, he met Tomasine “Tommie” Charlene Simanek from a friend at the A&W drive-in. Their friendship blossomed and led to a marriage on November 18, 1961 in Ponca City. Their marriage was blessed with one son. After working at Paris furniture for over 40 years he retired upon its closing. Afterwards, Howard enjoyed taking trips in their RV down to the Gulf of Mexico, fishing and seeking adventure. As well, Howard was pleased to ride alongside Tommie in their classic cars to various events with their club friends. Howard was best known for his wonderful work ethic, amazing woodworking skills, and his witty personality.

Survivors include his son, Mark Dummer of Jenks, OK, brother, Steve Dummer of Ponca City, OK, sister, Sharon Guthrie of Hallet, OK, sister, Andrea Clinton of Marland, OK, and granddaughter, Hannah Dummer of Jenks, OK. Howard was preceded in death by his wife, Tomasine, grandparents, Thomas and Katie, parents, uncles, Joe Rowe and Watt Rowe, brothers, Bob, Lester Jr., and Chuck, sister, Leslie and daughter-in-law, Shelle Dummer.
