Ponca City – The funeral for Virgil V. Arnold, 72, will be at 2 PM Monday at the Second Baptist Church, with Pastor Paul Graham officiating. Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery, under direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.

The family will be at 700 S. 6th.

He was born March 14, 1923, at Jet to Orville and Bobbi Haskins and died Saturday, March 25, 1995, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. His parents preceded him in death and he later was adopted by Garrett and Edythe Arnold. He graduated from Nash high school in 1941. He entered the U. As. Army Air Corps in February 1943, serving with the 826th Bomb Squadron. His assignments included the Rome – Arno, Appennines, Northern France, Rhineland and air combat in the Balkans. He was honorably discharged in November 1945. He married Grace Louise Bradley July 9, 1946, at Anthony, Kansas. They made their first home in Pond Creek. The couple moved to Ponca City in 1962. He was employed for 35 years with Safeway. He retired in 1987 as market manager. He was a member of the Second Baptist Church. He also was a member of the Safeway Employees Association.

Surviving are his wife, Gracie of the home; three sons, Edward Lee Arnold of Kaw Lake, Billy J. Arnold and Gary Arnold, both of Ponca City; three daughters, Kathleen Louise Wise, Judy Tubbs and Sue Pipkin, all of Ponca City; one sister, Colleen Reeser of Tonkawa; 12 grandchildren and two great – grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by both sets of parents, three brothers and one grandson.
