Hazel R. Anderson, resident of Ponca City, passed Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Shawn Manor Nursing Home. She was 98 years of age.

Hazel was born September 27, 1916 at Poteau, Oklahoma, the daughter of George Marion Russell and Nancy Bell (Holmes) Russell.

She was married to Carl Willard Anderson on March 2, 1935 at Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Hazel was a homemaker and had served her community as a volunteer at the Ponca City Hospital. Her enjoyments included flower and vegetable gardening, cooking, reading, staying up with current events and being a political advocate.

She is survived by her three children, Willard Anderson of Marland, Anita McAlister of Marland and Rick Anderson and wife Judy, of Ponca City; two sisters, Elorene Troost of Phoenix, Arizona and Imogene Weakley, Alamogordo, New Mexico; 7 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Carl, in 1994; two daughters, Doris Tabares and Patsy Anderson; four brothers, Charlie, Clarence, Vernon and Virgil Russell; sisters Floy Middleton, Ila Hughes, Evelyn Brewer and two infant sisters; two grandsons, Randy McAlister and Johnny Anderson; daughter-in-law Maxine Anderson; son-in-law John McAlister.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, September 25, 2015 at Grace Memorial Chapel. Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.

Casket bearers are Rick Anderson, Michael McAlister, Kelly Birdwell, Brian Jackson, Tim Anderson and Wayne May. Honorary casket bearer is Willard Anderson.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Oklahoma, 445 Fairview, Ponca City, Oklahoma 74601.
