Dorothy Imogene Young
December 26, 1926 - February 25, 2024

Dorothy "Imogene" Young, age 97, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 25, 2024, at home with family. Born on December 26, 1926 in Catoosa, OK, to Henry and Maudie Zundle, she was one of five children.

Growing up, she lived on a farm southwest of Medicine Lodge, KS. She attended a 1 room country school through 8th grade. She lived in Medicine Lodge with her sister, Modena, through high school.

Imogene married Merlin Seal on October 16, 1943. They had 3 children: Melva Jean, Clyde Merlin, and Judy Eileen. They lived on the family farm until 1952, when they moved into Medicine Lodge.

Imogene married Dorsey Young on August 13, 1973.

Imogene worked as a waitress for 22 years, and then at the High School cafeteria for the next 14 years before retiring.

After retirement, she and Dorsey moved to Ponca City in 1989 to be near the children.

Imogene loved God, her family, yard work, reading, and puzzles. She loved St. Paul's United Methodist Church, where she worshipped on Sundays and was a part of the Women's Group for a number of years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sisters; 2 brothers; a baby daughter; a son; 2 grandsons; her husband Dorsey; and several nieces and nephews.

She leaves behind her daughter Melva Keen and husband Gary; 5 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at Resthaven Memorial Park, 1901 E. Hubbard Rd, Ponca City, OK 74604, on Friday, March 1, 2024, at 2:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Francis Barley from St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home, 505 W. Grand Ave, Ponca City, OK 74601.

There will be no viewing. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of North Central Oklahoma, 445 Fairview, Ponca City, OK 74604.
