Obituary

John Allen Storrusten, 86, of Ponca City, OK, passed away on July 3, 2023. A Graveside Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, July 7, 2023, at Resthaven Memorial Park, Ponca City, OK. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, 505 W. Grand Ave, Ponca City, OK, 74601.

John was born on November 27, 1936, in Fosston, Minnesota, to John G. and Borghild Storrusten. In Laurel, Montana, he married his loving wife, Jane Propp on October 27, 1956, with whom he celebrated 62 years of marriage. John worked for Conoco in Roundup, Montana, which allowed them to travel the next five years. During this time, they had one son, Jack and twin daughters, Corliss and Clarissa. The family settled in Ponca City, Oklahoma. He later retired from Conoco as a computer technician.

John was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was baptized and confirmed at the Crass Lake Lutheran Church in Fosston, Minnesota. He was an avid camper and member of the Conestoga and Family Campers. John enjoyed archery and was a life-time member of the Ponca Bowman. He was also a member of the National Archery Association, serving as Oklahoma Director for 14 years. He also enjoyed water skiing, boating and gardening. Family was very important to John. He will be remembered as a giving, loving husband, father and grandfather.

John is survived by: son, Jack Storrusten and wife, Ramona, of Lehi, Utah; daughters, Corliss Trice and husband, Blount of Magnolia, Texas and Clarissa Waller and husband, Michael of Corsicana, TX; grandchildren, Josh Storrusten, Christopher Storrusten and wife Amber, Amy Tucker and husband Patrick, Heather Wolfe and husband Jason, Kristina Knighten, David Huddleston and wife Mary; great-grandchildren, Scarlett and Gwyneth Tucker, Sawyer Trice, Addyson and Hudson Knighten; and brothers, Dennis & Don Storrusten of Great Falls, Montana and sister, Rochelle Holmes of Livingston, Montana.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; John G. and Borghild Storrusten and wife, Jane Storrusten.

Pallbearers will be: Jack Storrusten, Michael Waller, David Huddleston, and Roberto Aguilar. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 200 S 6th St, Ponca City, OK 74601
