Alva Eugene Roughface, Sr was born January 9, 1943 in Pawnee, OK, passed away July 11, 2018 in Clinton, OK with his family by his side.

Alva was proceeded in death by his parents Nelson and Leona Biggoose Roughface. Sisters Bernice Davis, Nellie O’bregon, Sarah Paul, Mona Baken. Brothers Bronson Roughface, Sr, Thomas Roughface, Sr, and Lance Carney.

He is survived by his sons Jerry Roughface, his wife Mitzii and children Rusty Lopez, Mikayla Chanpuang, and Koby Roughface of Sapulpa, OK. Alva Roughface, Jr and his wife Keri of Broken Arrow, OK. Kenneth Roughface and daughter Kasi of Wetumka, OK. David Roughface and daughter Alyssa of Wetumka, OK. Nick Roughface and daughter Cheneya of Clinton, OK. Sisters Diana (Jenny) Roughface Kauahquo and husband Richard of Hobart, OK. Evona Roughface Williams and husband Curtis of Grand Prairie, TX. Special friend Gayle “Loni” Reed and life-long friend Teresa “Judy” Carter.

Alva Sr. attended Pawnee Indian School (Gravy U) in OK and graduated from Haskell Indian School in KS. He then graduated from Okmulgee Tech to become an offset printer and began working at the Oklahoma Journal. He served in the Marine Corp and served 2 tours in Vietnam, he was honorably discharged as Cpl Alva Roughface Sr. He retired from Clinton Indian Hospital where he was in custodial services.

He was a member of Ponca Indian United Methodist Church. He belonged to the VFW Post 4415 in Hobert, OK, Buddy Bond Chapter, S.W. Oklahoma Vietnam Veterans, Kiowa Tia-Piah Society, and the Gulf Coast Tia-Piah Society. He served as Master of Ceremony at various Pow-Wows and Tribal events. He loved his OU football and Dallas Cowboys. His jovial personality, quick wit, and charming persona will be greatly missed.

Wake service will be held Friday night 7/13/18 at 7pm at Ponca United Methodist Church.

Funeral services are Saturday 7/14/18, beginning with the feast at 12pm and the service at 2pm. Burial to follow at Ponca Tribal Cemetery. Officiating is Rev. Jim White, assisted by Rev. Julianne Judd and Rev. Abraham Jackson.
