Juanita Pearl Payne

Juanita Pearl DeLodge Payne, longtime resident of the Ponca City area, passed away Friday, December 5, 2008 at the Ponca City Medical Center. She was 72 years of age.

Juanita was born January 24, 1936 in Pawnee, Oklahoma, the daughter of Baptiste DeLodge and Lizzie Hairyback DeLodge. She attended the Pawnee Indian School.
In earlier years Juanita was a nurse’s aid in the health care service. She was a member of the Ponca Indian Baptist Church and her enjoyments included playing cards and dominos.

She is survived by her 2 children, Dwight DeLodge and Ethel Payne, both of White Eagle; her husband, Louis Payne, of Ponca City; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren that include Ezra DeLodge, Dwight DeLodge, Raymond DeLodge, Wayne DeLodge, Alan DeLodge, Sally Rhodd, Erin Cody and Juanita DeLodge; numerous other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, John DeLodge and three sisters, Josetta Rush, Margaret DeLodge and Josephine DeLodge.

Prayer services will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, December 7, 2008 at the Ponca Indian Baptist Church. A noon meal will be served at the church on Monday, December 8, 2008 with the funeral to follow at 2 p.m. Interment will be in the Ponca Tribal Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.

Casket bearers will be Ezra DeLodge, Dwight DeLodge, Raymond DeLodge, Wayne DeLodge, Alan DeLodge, Tony DeLodge and B.J. DeLodge. Honorary casket bearers will be Quintin DeLodge, Raymond DeLodge, Leadell Buffalohead, Shadrack Buffalohead, McKay Kemble, Carl DeLodge, John W. Warrior, Danny Lieb, Collins Roubedeaux, Houston Primeaux, Bobby Joe Howe and Floyd Roubedeaux.
