Mary Francis Warrior Atkins

Mary Francis Warrior Atkins went to be with the Lord on 10/22/2017.

She was 75. Born on 2/28/1942 in Pawnee, OK to Amos Warrior and Irene LeClair Warrior. She worked at Conoco as a data entry clerk and retired in the early 1990's. She enjoyed playing bingo and was an excellent beadworker for the tribe. She was a well respected tribal elder for the Ponca Nation. She sewed and crocheted, watched cooking shows and old westerns and enjoyed baking. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Harvey Atkins Sr., son Harvey Atkins, Jr, and several brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her son, Amos Hinton of Ponca, grandchildren Clayton Hinton, Shelby Hinton, Nathan Hinton, LaTosha Gaines, Harvey Atkins, III, Kimberly Atkins, Timothy Atkins, Naomi Miller, many nieces and nephews.

Pall bearers will be Clayton Hinton, Scotty Simpson, Jr., Steven Simpson, Dustin Simpson, Cory Simpson and Austen Batt. Honorary Bearers will be Her nephews. A traditional tribal wake will be held tonight 10/24/2017 at the Ponca Tribal Cultural Center.

A traditional tribal service will be held at the Ponca Tribal Cultural Center on Wednesday 10/5/2017 . The feast will begin at noon. Burial will follow at the Ponca Indian Cemetery.

Services for Harvey Dean Atkins Sr. were held at 2 pm Monday, March 3, 1997 at the Ponca Indian Baptist Church under direction of Grace Memorial Funeral Home. Burial followed in Ponca Tribal Cemetery.

Harvey was born July 15, 1941 and died February 28, 1997 at the age of 55.

He was a retired mechanic.
