Roy L. Ulin of 1603 Prospect a retired Continental Oil Company machine
clerk, died early this morning at the Ponca City Hospital.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in First Methodist Church. The
Rev. Charles Thigpen, pastor, will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Robert Van
Rouse. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery under direction of Grace Memorial
Chapel.
Born March 24, 1890, at Abilene, Kansas, moved to Cedar Vale, Kansas, at
an early age with his parents, Mr. And Mrs. Jesse Ulin. He received his
education there and worked for his father as a drayman with the Missouri Pacific
Railroad.
He and Minnie June Muchow were married at Winfield, November 30, 1910, and
resided in Cedar Vale until 1911, when they moved the Ponca City. Ulin was
employed by the Santa Fe Railway for a number of years and joined Marland Oil
Company in 1918, retiring from Continental in 1955.
He was a member of the First Methodist Church and had been on the church
board for many years. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 83, AF&AM, the local
chapter of York Rite, Council of Scottish Rite, the Grand Cross of Color of the
order of Rainbow for girls, past Artaban Shrine 12 of the White Shrine of
Jerseusalem.
He also a member of the J.O.Y. Club of the Methodist Church, the Men's
Bible Class and Modern Woodmen.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Walter Keathly, 1415 Prospect, two
sisters, Mrs Deck Colvin, 300 North Elm, and Mrs., H. O. Buck, 221 North Oak;
two grandchildren, Bill of the home and Don of 521 North Thirteenth, and a
great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his wife on September 11, 1957, his parents,
and two brothers, Frank and Harry.
The family will be at the Keathly home.
