Evelyn M. Newman, lifelong resident of Ponca City community, passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2008 in Stillwater. She was 93.

Evelyn was born December 10, 1914 in Ponca City, the daughter of Michael Seigler and Emma (Deda) Seigler. She attended the Ponca City Schools. She was married to Lloyd V. Newman on November 22, 1945 in Ponca City. She had grown up and lived on a farm in Osage County until her death. Evelyn was a member of the First Lutheran Church and her enjoyments included cooking, baking, playing yatzee, crossword puzzles, word search, and in earlier years, reading. She always enjoyed cooking for large numbers of family and friends. She was loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by three daughters, Joan Denton and husband, Bruce, of Ponca City, Loye Hesser and husband, Rick, of Glencoe, Oklahoma, and Barbara Hoogendorn of Ponca City; one step-daughter, Pat Schreck, Ponca City; 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd; 3 sisters and 1 brother.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 8, 2008 at Grace Memorial Chapel with Pastor Tom Ramsey of the First Lutheran Church presiding. Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Bruce Denton, Jay Hoogendoorn, Rick Hesser, Michael Ward, Dalton McNaughton and Jack McNaughton.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Judith Karman Hospice, P.O. Box 818, Stillwater, Oklahoma 74076.
