Death Claims J. W. Evans, 75

John W. (Winnie) Evans, 75, died late Tuesday night in the Stillwter Municipal Hospital following a lengthy illness.

Born Feb. 3, 1896, in Ponca City, Evans attended Ponca City schools. He married Effie May Simmons at Newkirk on April 9, 1917.

Evans was manager of the Community Gasoline Company until his retirement in 1945. He was a member of the First Christian Church.

Suvivors include his wife of the home, 429 South Osage; one daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Jerry) Matlock, Stillwater, and four grandsons, John, Midwest City, Rancy, Kenny and Donnie, all of Stillwater.

Funeral service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in the First Christian Church with the Rev. Bill Masters, pastor, officiating, assisted by the Rev. R.O. Martin. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery under direction of E.M. Trout & Sons.
