Mrs. John D. Evans Dies at Rochester
WELL KNOWN PIONEER OF NEAR PONCA CITY SUCCUMBS AFTER OPERATION.
Mrs.Emma E. Evans died at a hospital at Rochester, Minn., at 10 o'clock Thursday morning following an operation on Tuesday for cancer.
Mrs. Evans was a pioneer resident of the vicinity east of Ponca City and well known. The family settled on the farm when the strip was opened and it has since been their home.
She is survived by her husband, four sons, Ernest, who lived at home, and Bert Claude and Winthrop Evans, all residents of the Ponca City district. One sister and three brothers also survive. One brother, J.E. Hampton, lives just west of town and the other relatives reside at Oklahoma City.
Word was received from her husband, John Evans, this morning that he would arrive here with the body tonight and funeral services will be held at the Christian Church at 2:30 Sunday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. E. C. Whitaker. Burial will be at the IOOf Cemetery.
