Bearers Named For Leo Hazaleus
Funeral service for Leo E. Hazaleus Sr. will be 2 p.m. Saturday in the First Christian Church. The Rev. T. Arnold Davis will officiate, assisted by the Rev. James Michael of Deer Creek.
Pallbears will be Austin Little, Howard Merhoff, Carl Turk, Johnny Schmidt, James Thomas and Richard Sewell. Burial will be in Newrirk Cemetery under direction of Stahl Funeral Service.

The body will lie in state at the funeral home until 1 p.m. Saturday. The casket will be closed at the service.

Hazaleus, 86, a pioneer of Kay County, died Thursday morning in Ponca City Hospital. He was born in 1888 in Iowa and came with his parents to the Peckham area in 1901.

He was married in 1920 at Winfield and he and his wife resided on a farm near Peckham until retiring in 1958, when they moved to their home in Newkirk.

Survivors include his wife, one son, two daughters, one sister, 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial has been established in Hazaleus' name for the Kay County Junior Livestock Association and contributions may be made through the Eastman National Bank, Newkirk.
